[Frailing/Clawhammer] Advice for solos/breaks?

Post Body

Hi all. I've been learning to play frailing/rhythmic clawhammer for a few months now, mostly working off of Patrick Costello's materials. I've gotten to the point where if I can sing a tune and have an idea of the chords, I can make an arrangement I'm satisfied with. However, I'm struggling a bit when it comes to designing instrumental solos/breaks. I used to play jazz saxophone (badly) in high school, but past that have very little experience improvising. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
