Advice needed regarding Rental Agreement

My rental agreement ended last month and will probably be renewed again next month. Due to some personal reasons, I really want to move out. I am currently looking for places around Bangalore.
My questions is what is the ideal notice period that i should give my roomates and landlord to find a replacement?
The rental agreement also has the following clause:
"The tenant shall neither transfer his right for or subject the tenantable portion or any part thereof to anybody."
