Let me know what you think of this Audition proposal
Post Body

So, we recently got rid of our anchor in my band, unexpectedly and out of the blue he decided to let us know he quit 8 days before a gig. Truth be told, we are definitely better off with anyone else. He was very inexperienced, selfish, and a massive control freak, with some weird ideas and some even sketchier ones.

So, we are moving forward with an audition process to replace him on Ryhthm Guitar and Vocals (some leads and mostly harmony). I'm asking you, the fabulous bandmembers of Reddit, to give me feedback for the audition process. My other bandmates have given the ok, so it is what we are going with, but I want to hear some outside perspective from neutral sources that can give me a candidates view of it.

The 6 songs we are audioning everyone on are as follows including vocal harmonies, which can be ironed out once we make our selection...

Neon Moon by Brooks & Dunn Liza Jane by Vince Gill Family Tradition by Hank Williams Jr. What a Crying Shame by The Mavericks Already Gone by The Eagles

For the 6th song, we are giving each auditioner the choice between the following 3, with the expectation that the candidate sings lead vocals:

Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker What Are You Listening To? by Chris Stapleton Loving On You by Luke Combs.

All auditioning are being asked to audition with an acoustic/electric guitar, and to bring their own amp, mic, stand and cables.

Each audition slot is for 1 hour, which gives plenty of time to get to know each other and ask pertinent questions.

We plan to do 3 auditions each day over 2 days, so we are limiting our slots to 6 candidates. Only candidates who send video are being considered, unless they are someone that another member of the band has vouched for having played with prior.

When all have been auditioned, there is a 2nd audition slotted for another week for our final 2 choices, unless someone is absolutely the perfect fit.

Is this a fair shake for the candidates?
