Any bands on here incorporate your own lighting?
Post Body

Hey Reddit! Wondering if any of you incorporate lighting rigs in your gigs? I come from a stage lighting background (theatrical/musicals), so I have the McCandless method engrained in my brain, but rock/country "concert" lighting is a new beast for me to tackle, so I figure I'd reach out here to see what you all do for your gigs.

I recently purchased 8 Venue Tetra 12's and 2 Venue Tetra 6's from GC, as well as 2 59" T-Bar attachments for standard Speaker Tripod Stands. I also have 4 ADJ Megabars for backlighting, and and Enttec USB Pro running to my laptop which has Freestyler, QLC , and a few other DMX Control programs. I plan to use the ADJ Megabars as backlights behind the backline, the T6's in front of and under my drum kit, and 4 T12's on each side of the "stage" (45° out on either side) mounted to the T-Bars.

My biggest question is that of simplicity... Should I just have some preset "scenes" (looks?) That I can set between songs/sets, or should I attempt MIDI control and actually program a light show song by song with dramatic changes to separate chorus/verse/bridge/etc?

What say you?
