I have a 14’ Explorer and I’ve had all kinds of issues with it. I owe more than what its worth because I’ve had to dump so much into it and can’t get ahead on the payments. I’ve replaced a wheel bearing, the alternator, the ac condenser, the battery twice, the fuel pump. All while I’ve maintained regular maintenance. Most recently I was getting a grinding noise. I just moved to the city in October and asked my boss for a good mechanic that would look at it. I took it to Hampden auto and they said it was my ptu. The estimate was 1400 for the unit so I paid it. He then said it damaged my axel and 1400 went to 2800 quick. They showed me both the damaged parts. My dilemma is, as soon as I started the car, the check engine light was on. It read an o2 sensor is bad. The car has 150000k on it and again, I just moved here and my tags are now expired because I haven’t had the money to fix the sensors and get it inspected. Plus, I’m sure I need to replace the spark plugs and as well as new breaks and rotors. I got a quote for 1500 for the 3 things in VA, but that doesn’t solve the inspection and expired tags and want to do it in MD. Any advice?
