I’m currently in a pickle and it really stinks. I’ve been dancing for about 3 months or so at my local FADS and their sales tactic is giving me a bitter taste and is making not enjoy dancing as much. I went through the beginner course and social foundation. Near the middle/end of my social foundation course they sat me down to get me to sign a payment contract for their bronze level course. I have other things going on outside of dance that I have to prioritize, so during this meeting I said to the studio manager and my instructor that I want take a break so I can dedicate my time to my other hobby and save money to pay for dance in the future. (Rather pay in full than make payments). The manager acknowledged this and I said I’d come back around June/July time.
Since this sit down almost every dance lesson I’ve been asked to reconsider and to try to at least have two dance lessons a week—Or 2 a week and 1 the next. Any less is unacceptable. This has given me a bitter taste in my mouth and has been making me dislike dancing. They even scheduled the rest of the month out for me. Im currently trying to save for a house while also going to school, so saving and wait until I can pay the bronze course in full makes more sense to me.
Can I just outright ghost my dance studio since I did not sign the contract?
Is this typical for most studios?
I don’t know if times are hard for them or their retention rate is low but this pushy sales isn’t helping them to keep me. Thank you.
Edit: I know the title isn’t grammatically correct and there is probably some typos within here. Wrote this as soon as I got home
