Is it normal for BP to be climbing and trying to escape at night?
Post Body

I have a 6 month old bp and he's been great so far, eats regularly, seems comfortable and happy in his environment. But the in the past few weeks, I've noticed twice that in the middle of the night, he tends to try to climb up the sides and escape his enclosure (there's a small gap in the corner of the lid of his cage that allows room for him to squeeze through which I am going to get fixed).

The first time was the night before a feeding so I just thought he was extra active because he was hungry and wanting to hunt. But last night he also climbed the corner of his cage and succeeded in getting out but the shuffling and noise woke me up (thank goodness I'm a light sleeper) and I stuffed some paper towels in that gap to prevent him from escaping again. I don't think he used to do this (although I may have just been asleep and didn't notice) and he's only recently grown long/tall enough to reach the top to escape.

So, in short, just wanted to check to see if this normal behavior? Or does it indicate that there's something that's bothering him in his enclosure. I haven't changed anything: he has a warm side (with a CHE and a UTH with probe) and cool side, humidity is typically in the 60s range, he has 3 hides, clutter, and fresh water and he eats regularly. He does tend to prefer hanging out on the cool side though and it has been getting kind of warm here lately (I've noticed the temp on the warm side go up) so I decided after last night to turn off the UTH and only leave the CHE on and see if that makes a difference.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated!
