Linguini’s new home

Post Body

Hey all, I’ve been working on Linguini’s new home for a couple months now. It’s an old entertainment center (5’6”x2’4”x2’8”) that I lined with PVC sheets and sealed the seams. Drilled holes in the top for the heat lamps, and used some stainless woven wire for a screen so he can’t touch them, if he ever reaches that high. Also made some ventilation holes out of 2.75” pipe with a plate welded on one side with holes drilled into it, siliconed in place instead of screwed in for safety, should he want to try and peek through. Decided to cut a pass-through between the TV and media center side to make it “multi-story” and used PVC pipe to make a smooth edge around the opening. I cut out the middle part of the TV side doors and filled the holes with plexiglass for better viewing. Attached slide locks and hook locks to the doors to keep the noodle secure should he become too adventurous while unsupervised. For the substrate I mixed Repti-soil, coco fiber, and fir bark chips. The plants are all fake, and I still need to add a couple more climbing sticks and his water dish. He’s not moved in yet, but it’s been set up for a few days and seems to be holding decent humidity and temps (72-75% @77* cold side and 62-65%@89* warm side). The heat lamp and DHP are both hooked up to thermostats. The gauges in the photos are off because I took the photos right after I got it mostly decorated and had the doors open for a while. Any advice and/or changes y’all would suggest before I move him in would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
