Post Body

I got two ball pythons last week, Butter and Marble, and it’s frankly insane how different they are personality-wise! I’m doing everything “wrong” with Butter (he loves exploring so every time I open his tub I end up handling him so he doesn’t keep trying to climb out while I tend to his tub), while Marble is still very anxious and defensive (no fault of his of course, that’s honestly what I was expecting, and I’m aware Butter is a weirdo for being so adventurous so soon).

I also just tried feeding them both for the first time (attempting f/t mice right off the bat instead of live, which they’ve been raised on their whole lives, so I was fully aware they might just not take them at all), and Marble has yet to eat. On the other hand, Butter kept trying to climb out of his tub as usual while I tried to feed him, so I took him out and handled him for a few minutes so he’d chill out; after he’d gone back into his tub I left the mouse in his tub, just like I did with Marble, and he’d eaten it five minutes later. The little guy ate… a f/t mouse… five minutes after being handled… I’m honestly in shock haha. Anyways just a stupid little thing I wanted to post on here since I’m a bit dumbfounded! If anyone wants to give me advice on transitioning Marble over to f/t mice, or just feeding in general, I’d love to hear it, but I really do think he just needs more time. On the other hand… guess Butter’s transitioned just fine, the little weirdo.
