What version of Baldur's Gate should I get?

I want to get into Baldur's gate, but I'm not too sure what version to buy. I was going to buy the enhanced edition at first, but I see a lot of people warning against buying it. Should I buy the original or the EE?
If I like the game, I'm planning on grabbing Baldur's gate 2 also, so should I grab the original or the EE for that too?
