I noticed that OGS doesn't let you pick your rank, and you start with a (?) next to your name. I've played two games so far and it seems like I'm just being matched against players at the 9-11k rank.

My question is how many games does it take for OGS to determine my initial rank, and how does it determine that? I.E does it determine it by how much I win in my matches? Or does that have nothing to do with it at all? The reason why I ask is because I've been playing a mentoring type of style against K players and have been kind of holding back since I don't want them to lose interest/confidence in the game. However, if how much I win by is a factor in determining my rank I might considering taking these games more seriously.

For reference I hover around 6-7 Dan in Fox, so I'm not too sure how OGS recognizes that. Hopefully I don't have to start from SDK and play my way into Dan. The reason why I want to try OGS is because I want to be more involved with the English speaking community, is it worth going through the ranks?
