Today I was considering buying my first real go board, and when I looked around on places like etsy, I was honestly really surprised how expensive even the smaller and cheaper ones tend to be. It feels like it might be taken as offensive to say this, but I honestly have always just thought of boards as being a simple square of wood with a grid of lines cut into them which then have their crevices painted black. Judging by the price though, I'm either not seeing other parts of the process, or I'm underestimating/undervaluing the labor involved in the process as I've previously assumed it. I'd love to have a greater appreciation of the craftsmanship involved, if anyone wants to write about it or link to someone writing about it.
