My fiancé and I were staying with a old friend of his from high school for a couple months he was the only one on the lease but the landlord was aware we were staying there. We were paying rent to our roommate and we were the only ones that bought groceries, cleaned, and cooked and we were also helping him with other bills occasionally. If we weren’t living there the house would have been worse than a pigpen! He told us about 2 months ago we had until the end of May to find a place to stay because he was moving. When the last week of April came around he told us we had to be out in less than a week and he already took our rent money for May which was $120. He told us without us asking he’d pay us back last Friday when Friday came he said he didn’t have the money. I messaged him today on Facebook and asked him for the money and he’s been active but ignoring my message. What should I do? He also stole other stuff like our dishes that I’m not too worried about. I don’t know if I should file a report or if anyone has any advice?
