So I (19yo m) am going to college and living in an off campus apartment with a 23 and 22 yo m. I’ll call them x and y. We get along just fine for the most part but we wouldn’t if I actually voiced the things weighing in on my mind.

Cleaning seems to be such a big issue for x and y and I just don’t understand why. I don’t care how dirty their rooms are but I do have a problem when our shared spaces are dirty, especially if I’m the only one cleaning them. The kitchen and living room are always dirty, covered in dog hair, dirty dishes piled up in the sink, and on the counters. They also just leave their laundry on the couch when they don’t feel like doing them. Infuriating. I share a bathroom with X and he hasn’t cleaned it once since the lease started. The only reason the bathroom isn’t filthy is because I just end up cleaning it because I refuse to shower or get ready in filth. He leaves his business in the toilet sometimes and he always leaves the toilet seat up no matter what (yes I pee with the toilet seat down, argue with ya moms). I’m just tired of it. I sometimes wonder what would happen if I just completely stopped cleaning everything. The only reason I haven’t done that is because I am a clean person, and thoroughly enjoy living in a clean space. As much as I want to never clean to get at them, living in a filthy environment seems worse to me idk.

I’ve also dealt with racist and just really ignorant comments from Y. Y is a self proclaimed leftist and claims to love all races and despises racism. He never lets me hear the end of how progressive he is. He even told me how he even stopped talking to his dad because he is a neo-nazi and his mom and him are just cured from racism. Like wtf am I suppose to say….congrats on not being a piece of shit human being? There isn’t a conversation we will have that he won’t bring up something involving my race whether it be humorous or condescending. He just talks about it all the fucking time. Me and Y are both black so I’m sure he just feels some type of way. And he shouldn’t because I don’t like Y, in fact they have way more to bond over. Both of them dirty as fuck and think they’re not.

Other than these things I really just mind my business, do my own thing and try to stay out there way. These aren’t huge things like other redditors have posted, but little things that have enraged me over time. I wouldn’t have a problem with them if they acted they’re age. I’m the only teen here and I feel that I’m more mature than both of them, but hey I got my own bullshit too. I’m just waiting for this lease to be over in august so I can bounce. Anyways I wanna talk some shit and laugh cause I’m mad, so feel free to ask me question or leaves comments with your opinion.
