I’ve been living with this guy for a couple of years. Overall, it’s OK and there’s not much drama but every one or two months he feels the need to flip out at me.

Two months ago he flipped out because I took the wrong guitar bag when I was borrowing his guitar . He screamed at me on the phone and started swearing.

This morning it was 1130 and I started playing the piano . Next thing I know, he was slamming his window shut, slamming his door, and then came into my room to yell at me about the piano.

Every time I play the piano, he gets extremely angry. Bear in mind, I’m a pianist. I normally do Pop music, but I’ve been learning some classical pieces.

I went into the hallway, and I asked him what his problem is, and he said quite angrily “ I asked you not to play the piano when I’m home”. First of all, he never asked me that. Secondly, if it’s the daytime, I can play an instrument in my room if I want.

The problem is he’s an alcoholic and he gets drunk and then has a hangover the next day, but that’s not my problem. He’s choosing to get smashed.

He can be quite funny when he’s in a good space and we’ve had a lot of laughs, but I absolutely cannot stand these anger rages he has.

The thing is, I will not accept an apology, because sorry means you will change, and he’s obviously not interested in changing the way he treats me.

I also cannot throw him out because we are all on the contract so the landlord told me today that if it gets worse he will throw us all out. I’m thinking the option might be to make his life intolerable until he moves out because I do not want to deal with this loser’s anger anymore

Maybe all I need to do is play the piano every day

TLDR: oh my roommate gets irrationally angry with me once a month, and sometimes more. Now he’s flipping out because I play piano for half an hour around noon. I want to throw him out, but I don’t have the power to
