I don't know if this is a UK specific thing, but leisure/sport centres seem to place our badminton bookings next to pickleball players quite often. Imo the two sports are pretty incompatible when in the same space. It makes playing badminton actively dangerous, because of the more-than-occasional OAP stumbling into our court or us having to skip over rogue plastic balls mid-rally.
I'm signed up to Better Health UK (a national chain of leisure centres) and I'm not sure why their Health & Safety regulations don't account for this. If I run full-speed into the average pickleball player, it's likely not me that's going to walk away injured. Just wondering has anyone else experienced this and how do you play safely in this scenario?
I’ve play in a shared centre before where badminton and volleyball were in the same gym without separating.
They called it open gym and you could do anything. I think you have 2 choices:
1) formally complaint about safety to the sport centre
2) invite some hardcore players and play the most intense game of badminton ever. Let the smash sounds scare the pickleball players into leaving 😊
