In particular, we've been getting a lot of notifications in AutoModerator about users who use the word "retard" and its variations, generally as a pejorative of sorts.
As such, we'd like to remind users that the word "retard" and variations is inherently a violation of Rule 4:
Rule 4: Please remain civil and show respect for the other people of /r/badhistory. Don't insult others or use racist or bigoted language. Use of derogatory slurs, accusations of mental illness or disability, etc., will lead to removal of the comment and a possibly a warning or ban if deemed appropriate. Wheaton's Law (Don't be an ass) is the guiding principle behind this rule.
For the purposes of Rule 4 enforcement, all variations of the word "retard" are considered derogatory slurs and are not allowed on this subreddit. Please stop using it. It makes us just a tad grumpy when your comments get caught in the filter because you happened to describe an idea as "retarded".
