How To Download Movies Legally

1) Are there websites and if so where are they?
2) Torrent files and sites scares me. Copyright laws are to broad. Movies on YouTube are copyright and yet you can download from them. Websites like WIP no longer exist due to getting shutdown for violations! What is the difference? On Amazon you can purchase movies, TV series or episodes, however, can't take them with you when you close the account.
