Hi community,
I can’t believe I just now thought to seek out a page like this. In October 2020 I jumped into a gym foam-pit that did not have the proper amount of foam to break my fall. I’ll pause to allow for cringe for compressed vertebrae and a partially collapsed lung later, in March all I’ve been in physical therapy for a full year. After reading a lot of posts here I’d like to say how grateful I am that Medicaid insurance has agreed to continue paying for physical therapy visits - I cannot push the value in benefits of physical therapy enough. There is absolutely no way I would be in such less pain as I am today without it.
I’m 27 and had always been active. Being couch-locked for months RIGHT when gyms had reopened in the US after covid lockdown was hell. I gained weight, faced intense anxiety and depression, and ended up losing/inadvertently pushing away so many I cared about. I live alone and had someone come once a week to do basic housekeeping that I was unable to do. Washing my own hair was something that required pain medication to be able to do.
I’ve not so far met anyone that’s faced a similar injury, although I know others who are also probably facing lifelong chronic back pain from nerve and disc issues.
Just wanted to share my bit and say sometimes I’m still scared.
