Am I doomed?
Post Body

I’m a 26 male, 6’1 and have an average build.

My complaints are the cause of having poor posture, mainly that I have put pressure on tilting my head forward overtime. My problems are mainly a minor discomfort in my mid back when I exercise intensively, and tightness and soreness in my shoulders and neck. These are more so minor problems I am facing but they are getting worst and I have had the shoulders problem progressing over a number of years. I would love to be able to prevent these from developing into chronic back problems. The biggest problem I face and what makes me most miserable is the heartburn (possibly GERD) I've now had over a year as a result of what I believe to be putting pressure on my oesophogus. Another symptom I have as a result of this is excessive burping. One of my reasons for posting this is I can't find any advice on this sub and if anyone here has had any success with resolving this issue I would be so very grateful. I'm also wondering from peoples general experience with back problems, do you think I can fix this or is this suffering I will just need to put up with for the rest of my life? My swallowing has started to become harder and I am frightened at how bad my symptoms could become.

I have seen a nurse. This event led me to being prescribed with PPI medication. This works but it's not meant for long term use and doesn't resolve the root cause. I also got referred to see a physiotherapist which gave me some exercises to do. I then went to see a private PT and gave me some more targeted exercises to do and gave me some ideas on what has caused my problem. They also put me on a TEMS machine and manipulated my joints. He has suggested I get my heartburn investigated as there are a number of reasons I could be getting this and he doesn't want to link it to my back pain although we believe they are related. That's where I'm at currently. I'm also getting a Herman Miller desk chair to help keep my back supported as I work from home.

One of the regular posts I've seen a lot of on this sub are posts about mindset and that has really helped me. I'm looking to resolve my heartburn now and I think what I've read is keeping me mindful as I get through this. I’ve promised myself that if I ever get to the other side of this I will never take having good health for granted again. I am willing to do whatever it takes to resolve this I just don’t know what to do. I know people suffer with much worst. I have a family friend who is a tree surgeon and fell some good distance and could have very easily died. He has cracked his rib cage, punctured both his lungs and damaged his spine, amongst other things. I saw a picture of him in hospital on the weekend and he had a evening smile. I’m really glad he is going okay and it has definitely put my life into perspective. This guy may never walk again and I feel as though I have potential I just don’t know what to do currently. If I was overweight, I know I need to cut calories and exercise more, but what do I do to improve my posture and get rid of my heartburn.

Thanks for reading and especially to anyone that offers their advice!
