Opinions on rucksacks with detachable day packs? Good idea or a faff?

Post Body

Hi all, researching big rucksacks for a ~1 year trip around South America to contain all my gear camping equipment. I've come across the rucksacks with detachable day bags. Can I have opinions please? Do you like them? Why? Or do you prefer the old school set up of a big rucksack plus a non-attachable day bag.

Thanks!! <3
