Hello r/Backpacking. My partner is set to start a 1-year work assignment in Tacoma, WA. I have no family there and she will be working long hours. I plan to return to backpacking and distance hiking to enjoy my opportunity to live in this incredible area of the country. I've been there before for a shorter period of time -- I went to the Hoh Rainforest, Ruby Beach, and stayed on Whidbey Island and Cypress Island.

I'm feeling excited and intimidated as I build a list of 24 hikes to work through during my limited time. I think twice a month is a reasonable goal. What hikes or experiences would be on your list? Any below that you would get rid of?

Some of my best experiences have been "Four Pass Loop" in Snowmass Wilderness and "Alaska Basin Trail" is Jedediah Smith Wilderness. I've loved the Pecos Wilderness (NM), Salmon-Challis National Forest (ID) and Six Rivers National Forest (CA). I've done a lot of hot springs all over and my list below reflects my interest in those. I've done two bike-packing trips (Natchez Trace in MS and from LA to San Diego in CA). I want to experience more bikepacking for sure but am pretty new to that community. I don't have any mountaineering experience or climbing gear and don't have prominent aspirations to do super dangerous/exposed stuff. I am fit overall and have experience training for longer experiences -- bike trips, marathons.
