CW: living children
Hi friends. It sucks we’re members of one of the worst clubs but I’m glad this place exists in the way that it does.
My husband and I have 3 children together & 2 are here today. They’re just about 12 months apart (adjusted).
My oldest is 2. They’re an identical twin & his brother didn’t make it.
Since my kids are so close in age we get a lot of “oh, are they twins?” and it kills me a little every time someone asks. I can always see the look on peoples faces when they’re about to ask that exact question and I have to punch down every urge to just walk away quickly. The canned response is usually a small smile and quick “no” before continuing on what I’m doing. I don’t fault anyone for asking as it makes sense to think that but it just sucks ass to have to hear the question every time I take my kids anywhere.
Another thing that makes me see red is when someone finds out about what happened to my son is: oh at least you have one still (or something similar). Y’all. With this one I have to fight the urge to not throat punch them. Or, “at least you’ll never have to worry or wonder what the other one will look like.” Fuck you. Ugh.
Small but significant things that can change the course of my day some days.
I hope you all have a good weekend & do something fun.
