Did anyone know it was Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month?

Post Body

Mainstream American culture won't let us forget when it's Black History month. Shows you how poorly American society regards Asians that a month for us is largely ignored by large websites, television, and basically every other outlet. I didn't hear about it till a separate post on AI referenced it in passing.

America has strides to make when it comes to recognizing non-black minorities. For white people, it's not enough to say your down with 'black lives matter'. Blacks only make up 1/3rd of all the minorities in this country. You're missing most of it.

For other minorities, we honor black history month. It wouldn't take much to return the favor. And with Hispanics and others- the more we celebrate one another, the better. We all face common threats and devaluation by the broader American culture. Let's get in the habit of honoring each other.
