Green night crawlers

Our preschool classroom was just gifted an Axolotl and I was told that for his size, to give him 1/2 a night crawler every other day.
Problem is, I accidentally grabbed night crawler’s that were dyed green - not flavored. Are these safe to feed him or should I go and get regular ones instead?
