Surfacing for air

Post Body

Hey, I’ve had an axolotl for a few months now. And I’ve noticed he’s been coming up to the surface of the tank for air a lot. I’ve read several articles online that said that could mean there’s not that much oxygen in the tank or it’s too warm. I have ice bottles in my tank that I regularly change and a thermometer that helps me ensure the temperature is always 60 degrees Fahrenheit, fluctuating only up to 63 degrees at best. I also have a bubbler in his tank that makes a decent amount of bubbles. In fact, sometimes he goes near it to float for a while. Any idea as to why he’s surfacing for air so often?
