Fifth Day of the First Moon, 99 AC
Roy Baratheon
The Red Keep
It was like waking up from a drunken stupor. For the past… gods, how long had it even been? It was like he was going through the motions, walking through molasses. Everyday a blur. Who did he speak to? What did he do? Did he do anything? It was difficult to know.
Part of it, Roy thought, was the child. When he had found out that Raya was pregnant- well, there were mixed feelings. She wasn’t who he wanted to have this with, but it was with her. He was going to be a father. So much swam in his head, and it was difficult to deal with all of those emotions.
But that was an excuse. And he was not some coward to hide behind excuses. Lord Caron’s letter had woke him up, and now was the time to begin acting again. There was much to be done, and it was his duty, given to him by the king, to deal with. Regardless of how much he hated it. Or lacked skill in it.
There was one thing he needed to do, before he acted. Roy was never the best follower of the Seven, but he believed. It was time to see a Septon.
His steps echoed throughout the halls of the Red Keep, as a few servants bowed, slightly surprised by his presence. He had to wince when he passed them.
When he got to the Sept of the Red Keep, he signed the Seven-Pointed Star and entered, quietly going before the Warrior. And there, he waited.
