How to get seat assignment on Alaska when booked through AA?

I booked a flight for my wife and I using my AAdvantage points on Alaska from MEX-LAX-SFO. Through the AA website, there is no way to select seats for Alaska Airlines. Now I'm afraid that the two of us will be stuck in middle seats in different rows.
Is there a way to be able to select our seats before the flight?
