View Emotions As Alarm Bells

This idea might seem funny at first but hear me out. A common feeling of disappointment is felt when we lose ourselves in our thoughts, and our emotions spiral. We believe we have 'failed' by giving into the ego. However, this is not a failure but a wonderful opportunity to practice mindfulness.

It is not losing ourselves in thought and emotion that is the problem, it is not being able to recognise what has happened afterwards. The fact you are capable of seeing that process is proof you are awakening. You can then non-judgmentally observe what has happened, which is a superpower.

View emotions as alarm bells that you are believing your thoughts. Do not be afraid, worried or disappointed when these feelings come up and you lose yourself in them. Appreciate your emotions for bringing your unconsciousness to light, and allow yourself to go deeper into your true being. Each time this happens, it is an amazing opportunity to awaken further and further.
