I own a 2016 Ford Focus with 103,000 miles.
I recently noticed the faintest sound seemingly coming from the passenger side of the car when accelerating over 45mph. The sound is something of a wooooshing or extra vibration. Had I not had the fan and music off I doubt I would have heard anything. The sound only occurs when I engage the gas pedal at around 45mph. No sound occurs when I rev the car while stopped. I’m particularly anal and noticeable of any sounds period so I dunno if I’m just picking up on something that’s a mute issue or not.
I took it to the dealership for an oil change and asked them to also look at what I described to be “a faint squeal only when accelerating over 50”. The looked and charged for an inspection and said they couldn’t tell anything. Upon leaving I noticed they just took it for a test drive and checked wheel bearings. Nothing related to the transmission or alternator or anything under the hood. Leaving the dealership I have since noticed the sound more obviously but it’s not any worse. Whenever I tried to record it, the background noise makes it near impossible to hear anything.
Should I trust the dealer and only take it somewhere else if it gets noticeably worse or get a second opinion? I just asks because I’m moving from NC to central NY in a few days and want to make it in one piece. I’m not car savvy at all.
