Hey everyone! I gotta get my Kia back up and running for a good while, as it sat for almost 3 years. I’m knowledgeable enough to figure out how to properly repair, but not enough to diagnose or proceed without advice.
Did some repair work (easy to replace stuff like brakes, rotors, spark plugs, coil pack, oil and filter, air filter) on it last year intending to get it fully functional, but ran into troubles. As completely expected.
The vehicle is having trouble with over-revving, in the sense that, I can shift it into gear no issue, however it will not accelerate as well as it should and will over-rev. It has a hard time starting up as well, and I’ve been told by some people I should replace the clutch. That being said, the clutch was fine before parking it. I understand that it sitting for 2 & 1/2 years could probably change that.
I was told that I should run it for a bit to see if that changes much, as oils and liquids could have settled a decent bit.
I would like some advice on what someone more experienced may do in this situation.
If there’s a deeper fix to something like this that I could do to basically hit multiple things at once, I’m willing to do so.
