Hi everyone
I am wondering if anyone has advice on local services or autism related support they use/do to keep themselves well.
I already see a talking therapy counsellor which does help with trauma and how I feel about things but there are so many other areas of my practical life that she doesn’t help with.
I am on the waiting list for occupational therapy through my council but they’ve already told me they don’t really have any autistic specialists or know how to help.
I go to a charity support group once a month which is great but that’s infrequent and doesn’t help with setting up systems or routines to keep me well.
I considered applying for PIP and using the money to either pay for OT or a weekly housekeeper. However the process of applying made me really unwell given how invasive it is, and the autism charity and my therapist (who is disabled in other ways) both said it’d be unlikely I’d be granted financial support as I am in work and commute 3-4 days per week.
I am mainly stuck with juggling everything, errands, cooking food, packing lunch for work, cleaning, washing clothes, my never ending to do list, seeing friends and making plans, exercising and moving my body when I am so exhausted all the time. Executive dysfunction is real
I don’t want to quit my job because I just started it and the pay is good and I do also like the company. The support services in my area seem non existent
Thanks!
