I was 5 years old standing in line outside the elementary school.
A bee came up to my ear, "bzzzzz bzzz bzzzz", and I immediately froze.
Shut down.
Closed my eyes.
Covered my ears.
And waited until the bee was gone.
It has taken me almost 25 years to get over the sensation a bees buzz brings me. It's horrible.
But ever since that moment I knew I was "different" than my classmates, not exactly autistic because I didn't know what that meant, but definitely different. Especially because a bee can send me running away even if it's minding it's own beeswax. Like my joke? 😌
But fr. I will never ever forget my first bee encounter.
