Mostly a rant.
Anyone else have moments of unwanted memories illustrating your autism randomly interrupting your day?
I was diagnosed at 39 years old, was totally clueless most of my life. Only after a failed marriage and a breakdown at work did I begin to question how I worked.
So this morning I'm taking my time getting up and I have what I can only describe as a flashback to a "playdate". Spent a few hours being completely awkward and uncomfortable at the house of my parents' friends with their kids while the adults were off doing who knows what. I've got no reason for it, but the memory made me angry. It feels like it should have been obvious that there was an issue, and that everyone let us down. To this day I'm the only one in my immediate family with an official diagnosis, although I'm pretty confident most of my five siblings meet the criteria.
Is this really a flashback?
Thank you for reading to the end.
