How do you handle debates/ arguments?

Most people I come across argue based on how they feel about something and use there feelings as a way to get there point across. I tend to be more logical / analytical in the way I process and use information, especially when debating. Because I don’t argue based on how I feel about something, people have called me weird, cold, uncaring etc
