Whenever I meet someone who has an accent other than my usual west coast American accent, I ask them where they are from (very specific details only) and I ask them a bunch of questions about their culture (food, entertainment, family, whether they were ever judged for their accent). Itโs basically all I can think about from that moment and I just want to talk about their accent/dialect.
I donโt know if this is rude because nobody has ever told me so or reacted in a super negative way. I am really interested in linguistics so that is why I love learning about this. I do not want people to think I am racist or culturally offensive though
