I am a 47 year-old successful father of a boy about to turn 3. For the first 45 years of my life, no one ever suggested that I have ASD. I'm a total extrovert, very outgoing and social (which I thought was rare in ASD), but in the past couple years, several people I trust have suggested I am on the spectrum. The estranged mother of my son is certain that both our son and I have ASD, and as we're moving towards having him assessed, I'm wanting to also assess myself.
I'm curious if there are many of you in a similar situation and want to hear about the benefits of a diagnosis at such an old age as 47. I'm also curious how to find a good doc to assess me, given that everything I've found has been aimed at children.
