Many of you have probably watched "Exposed: The Ghost Train Fire" that has recently been shown on Netflix. The documentary investigates the June 1979 fire that destroyed the Ghost Train ride at Sydney's Luna Park, which also killed 7 people. The police at the time claimed that an electrical fault started the fire. The documentary makes a strong case that an electrical fault was not the cause of the fire and that arson was a likely cause.
What many people may not have realised was that the documentary was first shown on the ABC in April 2021. In August 2021, "Media Watch" aired an episode which was critical of the Documentary. While Paul Barry concedes that most of the Documentary was well researched, and states that he personally believes that arson was the likely cause of the fire, he was critical of the claims that the Documentary made of then NSW Premier Neville Wran in linking him to the the criminals believed to have been behind the Fire.
