Community Feedback: Should we ban disposable vape posts in the sub?
Post Body

VOTE HERE

As a part of the Australian vaping industry, I (as moderator of this sub) usually have a light-touch approach to moderation when it comes to commercial posts.

Basically, I've tried to do my best to ensure that my commercial interests don't conflict with the running of this sub.

The only blanket rule is no commercial advertising in this community subreddit, and it's worked out pretty nicely so far.

Now, disposables. I'm also of the opinion that if someone is only willing or able to quit smoking via the convenience disposables offers, then good for them - but at the same time, most of these disposables are being purchased (illegally) under the counter at stores which might as well also sell to underage users, "ruining" vaping for the rest of us who just want to be left the fuck alone.

Based on comments I have seen on disposable threads, I am suggesting that we implement an auto-moderator rule to filter/hide posts about disposables, as the majority of these posts in the sub are about trying to find illicit sellers of these devices within Australia - I know the horse has bolted on this topic, but here we are.

Please take the time to vote below above, I'll let it run for a week and then do whatever the community says.

A monthly megathread sounds like the fairest way to do it. This subreddit isn’t big enough for an entire other sub to be warranted just for disposables.

While the majority of regular posters are well aware of the (rightfully earned) stigma around disposables I think it’s important to retain this community as an informative and approachable space especially for those trying to kick the darts.

A megathread allows the negatives of disposables to be clearly communicated while still allowing confined discussion but also removes the clutter of “where can I get a disposable in X” posts.
