Aurora is a 4X (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, eXterminate) science fiction strategy game/story generator developed by Steve Walmsley. Players develop and grow their interstellar empire from the humble beginnings on their homeworld to conquer the universe, or be pummeled into the ashes of history by opposing races.

Sometimes referred to as "Dwarf Fortress in Space" due to it's complexity, steep learning curve, and excellent game play once you understand what to do.
