I have both but not in a place where I can compare. HpMs are in a crowsed garage type space hooked up.to an sx 880the kilpsch are buried.

Im going to offload a bunch of things but want to keep one good pair. The avid 230s are on the block

I've read the hpms sound unfocused and messy while they have enough bass, the sound falls apart at higher volumes. I do enjoy them in the enviro they're in but havn't really listened to them in a critical manner. The klipsch has decent reviews with the Crites diaphram mod

Question is, what should I listen for, know, keep in mind when deciding what to sell?

My hearing is probably fairly compromised from abuse but I fully enjoy my B&O 9500 system and Penta x 4 speakers.
