[Curiosity] Commercial/consumer A>D converters not bundled with a preamp?

Post Body

This is not something I'd be looking into anytime soon, but still idly curious.

Say I build or buy a rather nice microphone preamp. I'm particularly interested in this one I've found. http://sound.westhost.com/project66.htm I'd rather not take its output and run it through a conventional interface that has yet another preamp. I'd like to run directly into the ADC itself.

Poked around the internet, and it seems there are two common solutions. Multi-thousand (US) dollar top-shelf ADC units (interesting, someday, :D) or finding consumer interfaces that have the ability to bypass the preamp. So, what current offerings are there that are just ADC without a preamp at all?

(As I anticipate some people around here to be rather down about this question: no I'm not being practical here. This is for curiosity sake.)
