Advice on Picking a Sampler for Sound Design
Post Body

In my personal music recording life, I'm usually recording jazz-ish nonsense, so I have zero experience with samplers. However, recently a need arose for a "sound design" type of tool. I'm in Pro Tools.

I did some research, and it looks like Izotope Iris 2 would work well, but apparently it isn't being sold anymore?

Basically, what I need is a sampler that can take my library of things like foleys, field recordings, etc. and re-sample them so that they fit in-time with music/can be re-pitched to match the key signature. I know most samplers come with big libraries, but that's not a selling point for me.

Also, I don't necessarily want to mangle these sounds completely, although that might be a fun plus. And I don't want to create "beats." I just want to make them fit better with the music.

So, two questions:

  1. Is anyone selling a license for Izotope Iris 2? Is that a thing?
  2. What other, similar tools are out there? From what I read, so many samplers are based on creating beats, and that's not really what I'm looking for. I need it for sound design.

Thanks in advance!
