So, I've just finished drum tracking for an album (10 tracks, 16 mics). I tracked in Reaper, but I am finding considerable difficulty using it to comp/ edit in the way I want to. Tracktion Waveform doesn't seem to be able to do what I need it to, otherwise I would use that. Audacity can't do it either... I've seen some videos where people seem to use Studio One to comp drums pretty easily. Would the free version do what I need it to, ie. quantizing? Is quantizing even what I need?? The drums are performed very well, so I don't want to mess with that, obviously. I just might need to nudge a section closer to the beat here and there, or perhaps copy past a fill from take 3 and put it on take one, and so on and so forth - Very minimal moving around and editing...
Can someone chime in here and put me on the right path? I'm so bad with editing/ comping and such. Great with tracking and mixing and being creative, but pretty terrible at these types of "brass tacks" duties...
Thanks.
-I'll add: The last time I tried to use Studio one it did NOT play nice with my laptop (Two sessions mysteriously diappeared before my very eyes_, but I've since got a new m achine, so I'm willing to give it another try...
