Any one have any references of classic 60s/70s pop/rock records that have wide stereo kicks and snares? Iโm mixing a record at the moment and the engineer has recorded multi mic kicks and snares, and hard panned them Left Right. Usually itโs my preference to have the kick and snare pretty centre, and widen with reverb or stereo layers to add a bit of dimension. But these recordings have a flammy / wide slap delay type vibe. Not sure if Iโm into it, but having a good reference might allow me to capture the essence of the intention.

This is not true at all, stereo mixes were released on vinyl in the 60s too
