It's been six months or so since I've asked for something new to listen to, but I've run out of shows, and need something to get me through the workday. I mainly listen on Pocketcast, but Spotify is an okay substitute in a pinch.
I tend to enjoy horror pods: A Voice from Darkness, I Am in Eskew, OGOA, Magnus Archive ( ...Eeh.), Malevolent, Neighborly (<3<3<3), Quietly Yours, Gray Matter, WWMTK, Wake of Corrosion (Which IMO was the only "horror" genre show that ever felt scary), Hello From the Hallowoods (Not quite horror?), We're Alive, Unwell (Also Eeh), The White Vault ( And their Don't Mind series)
I do a little sci-fi and alt history, but it isn't my go-to: Silt Verses, The Strata, Deca Tapes, Copperheart, Eliza, Embers of Eden, The Oyster (WTF happened to that show? I vanished after a single season) Wolf 359 (and the three other shows Long Story Short has produced) Mirrors, The Program (Okay, this one is one of my favorites. I love the way the stories are disjointed but the lore is still connected, with serious philosophy woven into every episode), Midnight Burger
I really enjoy smaller productions over large fully cast shows I think? I've had some great suggestions from producers here. McGuillicuddy and Murders Pawnshop (And currently running show The Ghost Catchers), The Last Voice, Gray Matter (Again! Because I can't hype that show enough. Definitely my favorite episodic horror), Sinkhole (It's weird how little I see this show mentioned here. Had it not been suggested by the creator, I don't think I'd have heard it, but I'm really glad I have)
There are a host of other shows that just aren't coming to mind, but if you don't see it here and think it fits, please throw out the recommendation! I will say I can't get into comedy shows, I prefer something a bit more serious. Longer is better, and I love a storyline more then unconnected stories. I don't like a ton of .. erm.. show fluff? If you have a 30 minute episode, and the first five minutes haven't started the show (Ads. Network, Patreon, and KS plugs, Other show promos, a minute long opening theme, that sort of stuff), only to follow with the same thing at the end of the episode, I most likely won't be into it. I'm more then happy to support forever through Patreon, and if I love the show I'm quick to grab merch for the sticker wall, but I need to be able to get into your story while I'm at work, and all the external stuff kills it for me when I'm in a place that I need to be able to zone out. Not saying an ad or two is an issue, but there needs to be a limit to how much I'm doing to get to the content.
