Need help with mixer for vocals

Hello! I have my mixer connected to a PA speaker. Iām having an awful time getting the knobs right. It makes a humming/static sound from the speaker if the gain/ch1/main knob is too loud but then i cant hear myself well when I sing with my microphone (shure sm58).
