Switching membership

I have the platinum annual plan but want to downgrade to gold annual. My plan was renewed this past February and I meant to switch membership before it happened but forgot. I contacted support and was told I’d be charged $149.50 if I change plans now. Anyone has experience with changing membership plans and not being charged? I have 11 credits and don’t need any more credits for the rest of the subscription.
