Hi guys, Iāve got the opportunity to get my holy grail watch and debating between the grey dial 15400st or 15500st, the later being Ā£1500 more expensive.
Iām not to familiar with what is deemed to hold better value, what do folks think is the better watch and will hold value better, been told by the respective dealers that the 15400st will as itās discontinued, but the 15500st will as it has a better case back
Would appreciate any advice!
There have been dozens of posts RE buying an AP as an investment and how bad of an idea that is. Buy the watch that you like and will wear. Assume that it is going to lose money. If you want an investment try the stock market. The watches you mentioned both have been falling in price with no signs of stopping. The dealer is bullshitting you as he probably has a greater profit margin on the 15400.
Totally! Everyday watches are being listed for lower and lower prices. It canāt be stressed enough that watches are not investment vehicles and that line of thinking shouldnāt even enter the equation when buying a watch. Even at APs relatively lower output (40-50k watches a year) most are not ārareā. Just check MODA, Chrono24, etc and you will see dozens of listing for these supposed rare pieces.

Value retention is an aspect that should play very little if anything in your choice. Assume they will not hold their value (unless you are paying retail).
