I contacted AP via their site asking for an appointment and expressing interest in a few watches (15450 and 15550). I got an email back saying that the model I am interested in is high in demand but she would nevertheless like to invite me to visit the boutique and get to know me.
Is this a good sign? Do you have any tips for me?
Same experience for me. Expressed interest in some pieces (Panda ROC and a ROO). Was told these pieces are in high demand, etc. and that it will take patience and they emphasized the importance AP places on "relationships." Overall it was a nice experience and I truly believed they wanted to help me get the watch I wanted. I have now come to realize that "relationships" is quite a vague term for AP and not sure if that means you need to buy a CODE first or what. I was offered a few CODEs a few weeks after my visit (none that were on my wishlist and wildly out of my budget) and I politely declined. Had a follow up appointment and the vibe was extremely different. Cold, pessimistic, and totally felt like they wanted me out of the store. During the follow up, I inquired about setting a goal for having a ROC for a significant event in my life 1.5-2 years from now (and if it was even worth my time) and was told verbatim "well, anything is possible."
I get that everyone wants these watches and they have their pick of the litter but stop with the games. Just be upfront about what it takes to get a RO so people don't waste their time. If it takes buying a CODE or two to build the "relationship" then just be upfront about it. I don't want to waste their time and would appreciate being extended the same courtesy.
